It’s Mother’s Day Weekend…

Make sure to take care of Mom… I am sure she did plenty to take care of you… I know mine did, even though we had our moments. She expected so much of me and taught me how to be a gentleman (even making me get out of the stroller to hold the door open for her)… Her high expectations pushed me to reach the success I enjoy today. In my younger years, I thought her expectations where too high, but I realize now the lessons she was instilling in me and for that, I am forever grateful… June will be four years since she left us and as much as I miss her, I know that she lived her life to the fullest not taking any day for granted… I love ya Ma….

The sights of this week in Team KW Land…

This European Hornet made it’s way into the house… safely relocated to this Green Mountain Boxwood… which is a great pyramidal boxwood…

The May Apples have sprung up and are carefully hiding their creamy white blooms… later in the season, the fruits produced are a delicious indigenous treat for the eastern box turtle…

Another Clematis brightening up this garden…

This Native gem, Camassia is planted as a bulb and
adds some striking blue to the garden…

Wait.. What??? a WHITE Lilac???

This NATIVE Black Cherry Tree is starting to show its own white flowers…

and another white bloomer, the NATIVE Black Locust is a winner…

this tree is a legume (related to peas), it GRABS nitrogen from the air and delivers it to the soil, a trait that few plants own…

The wood of the Black Locust is HIGHLY dense,
making it very rot resistant naturally…

Last of the white flowers for the week… another NATIVE… the Fetterbush…

Whoops… I missed one… and this is the WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER…

The NATIVE White Fringe Tree… such a soft bloom…

The towering NATIVE Cinnamon Fern showing it’s fiddleheads…

Wrapping this week up with a NATIVE vine that enjoys wrapping itself around things… Trumpet Honeysuckle…

My daughter Amaya shared this and feel it really puts things in prospective…

Let’s see what was happening this week in Team KW Land…

ok… once again… over and over again…
TEAM KW earned another Free Lunch Friday
for hitting our set efficiency rating… and I LOVE IT…
keep it up Team KW…

Team KW has a passion statement, not a vision or mission statement…

“Team KW believes in taking care of others so they can live a fulfilled life…”

well the team delivered on those words this week… Edi and Emerson jumped a client’s car which had a dead battery…

So proud to be apart of this team…

Sadly, late in the afternoon last Friday, Israel fell off a truck and broke his wrist… Today he had surgery to get the bones back in alignment… the team was challenged this week, being a member down as we sprint to get things done before memorial day weekend…and they have answered by working later in the day to stay on schedule… here Fernando is helping out with the landscape management team to fill Israel’s spot…

Kevin also stepped up and helped Cesar complete this week’s landscape management route… Kevin proudly sent me this picture to show his straight lines while mowing… he had never operated a mower before this week, Cesar took the time to teach him the Team KW way…

Here Kevin and Luis are getting this sparse grass stripped for a native perennial planting, which included Christmas Ferns and Blue Sedge…
As you can see Kevin is very camera shy
while Luis is like “another picture Jeffe???”

Here Brock is chopping the roots of these cherry trees, two were removed, barely alive… which brings me to the Team KW Treemendous Response update… the team has cut down a total of 12 trees this year and has planted 14 native trees and 25 non-native trees to offset… this year I pledged that for every tree that Team KW removes, we will plant a new native tree to offset its removal… Trees are EXTREMELY important in keeping Mother Earth healthy and Team KW is dedicated to doing our part…

Fernando and Martinez replanting where those cherry trees were removed… 18 NATIVE Clethra and 18 Hicks Yews were added to this landscape…

The dual hedge all planted and mulched…

The team pouring some concrete… here Martinez is drilling into the existing slab to place rebar, this rebar will create a mechanical connection between the two pours…

Jeronimo and Luis getting the forms set… checking the level and squareness…  inside the forms, separation fabric is laid and covered by #57 gravel to give a stable base for the concrete…

The concrete was poured with broom finish for texture… the following day the forms were removed, sod and plants were added and the site given a shower with a pressure washer to clean things up…

and again today, all hands on deck for more MULCH MADDNESS… the teams are spreading over 65 yards of mulch before the rain shows up…

and more Team KW swag showed up this week
to keep the teams looking great in red…

Lastly, Team KW is responsible when it comes to our waste… here are old tracks from one of our machines that needed to be disposed of…
Jeff spent hours and over $400 to find a place to recycle them…
which is the right thing to do…

Team KW loves giving back to our community…

That’s what I have to share from Team KW Land this week…

Thanks for taking some time to read, click on a few links and check out some pictures…

Have a great Mother’s Day Weekend…

Team KW believes in taking care of others so they can live a fulfilled life… how ELSE can the team take care of you???

be Positive be Grateful be Happy…
